It all started when I saw how people moved in a gallery space
No joke. I was in my final year in Visual Arts Practice (Fine Art) and I noticed how visitors would interact with the light and sound installation piece I had in the exhibition. It wasn’t just a one sense experience, it was multi-sensory. And the visitor also came with their own expectations of how the artwork operated, i.e some thought as it was in a gallery space, they could not ‘touch’ it. When in-fact it needed them to touch it so they could experience it. It was something else to see their delight as they conducted an orchestra of sound through interacting with the various colour bars. The barrier had been ‘broken’.
It was seeing how this experience of joy could be applied to all touch points in life from products to services that I began my study into the user’s experience within digital i.e understanding people’s behaviours, attitudes and emotions when using a product, system or a service.
Afterwards, I completed Masters Creative Digital Media specialising in User Experience Design and Interaction Design.
I love working with companies and organisations to help them identify user experience and business issues and create human-centred solutions for them. I like to think of it as humanising technology. My aim is to deliver user experience excellence applied to cutting-edge digital products to help organisations transform their business.
I have worked as the lead designer over the past 6 years on multiple award-winning Business to Business and eCommerce websites for Food Corporations, Aviation, Tourism, Not-for-Profits, Health and Higher Education departments. I provide UX consulting services, research services, design for web and mobile applications and provide UX trainings.
As designers and creators of products & services, we have a responsibility to solve ‘real problems’, adopt a culture of positive change and to help others in need.
When I’m not working, I love to get out and play tennis. I also enjoy running, hiking, CrossFit, pilates and yoga.
